Introduction

North Wales and Anglesey are a photographer's dream, offering a striking variety of landscapes, from rugged mountain peaks to windswept coastal cliffs, from ancient castles to hidden coves, every corner of this stunning region provides a unique opportunity to capture the dramatic interplay of light, texture & nature, making it an ideal destination for landscape photography.

North Wales is a land of contrasts, where the Snowdonia National Park dominates the skyline with its craggy mountains & tranquil valleys. The iconic peaks of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) & Tryfan offer endless compositions—from wide, sweeping vistas to intimate, hidden corners framed by dramatic weather.

In spring, the landscape comes alive with new growth, blooming wildflowers & the magical light that filters through the valleys and peaks.

Snowdonia is also rich in history with the Dinorwic Slate Quarry providing incredible industrial ruins that stand in stark contrast to the lush green valleys & pristine lakes. These locations are perfect for capturing the blend of natural & man-made textures, adding an element of storytelling to your images.

Moving west, Anglesey provides a unique coastal charm - surrounded by the Irish Sea, this island is home to windswept beaches, dramatic cliffs & iconic lighthouses, all perfect for capturing the raw power of the coast. Locations like South Stack Lighthouse, perched on steep cliffs & Llanddwyn Island with its beautiful beaches & ancient ruins are especially captivating at sunrise & sunset when the changing light plays across the water & rocky terrain.

The island’s coastal beauty is complemented by serene locations such as Penmon Point, where rugged shorelines create idyllic scenes for long-exposure photography. And with St Cwyfan’s Church in the Sea, you’ll find one of the most photogenic chapels in the UK, especially during the changing tides when it appears to float on the water.

In both North Wales & Anglesey, the ever-changing weather creates opportunities for dramatic skies, moody light & fleeting moments that can elevate your photography.

Whether you're chasing the perfect golden hour, capturing a storm rolling in over the mountains, or finding stillness in a hidden valley, North Wales & Anglesey offer an unmatched range of photographic possibilities for any photographer.

Description

Step into spring and experience North Wales at one of its most magical times of year - when the mountains awaken, the coastlines glow & the landscapes burst back into life.

Led by professional landscape photographer, Dave Nelson - this hands-on photography workshop takes you through a rich variety of terrain, from Snowdonia’s dramatic landscapes & slate-strewn valleys to the wild beaches & historic lighthouses of Anglesey & the North Wales coast.

In Snowdonia National Park, we will capture golden light spilling across fresh green valleys, lakes & mountain summits as the sun rises over the landscape. The dramatic peaks of Tryfan & Yr Wyddfa are an incredible sight & the glacial stillness of Cwm Idwal offers multiple composition possibilities.

We will explore haunting, historic slate quarries like Dinorwic, where the textures of rusted machinery & cracked stone tell a story of Wales' industrial past—contrasting beautifully with the soft light & new growth of spring.

Moving out to the coast, the Anglesey & the North Wales coastline offer tidal islands, iconic seascapes, ancient chapels, lighthouses & windswept cliffs all whilst enjoying the crisp, clean air. Sunsets are particularly special from various locations on the island where large skies & coastal panoramas provide the perfect compositions to capture the sun slipping below the Irish Sea.

Spring brings quieter beaches, dramatic skies & the chance to capture lighthouses & castles framed by glowing seascapes.

Spring brings energy, colour & clarity to the landscapes of North Wales— this workshop is all about capturing that seasonal transformation. From soaring peaks to tidal islands, this is more than just a photography workshop—it’s a creative journey across one of the UK’s most diverse & visually rich regions.

This workshop will empower you to build a stunning portfolio whilst developing the skills & confidence to chase the light and capture the wild—wherever your camera takes you next. Dave’s warm & approachable teaching style ensures you’ll feel supported as you explore creative techniques - learning how to capture the unique beauty of this beautiful part of the UK.

In this relaxed, enjoyable, & fun environment, you’ll have the chance to connect with fellow photographers, share experiences & receive personalised feedback from Dave.

Whether you're a beginner or seasoned photographer, this workshop will help you develop new skills whilst enjoying the beauty of North Wales, Snowdonia & Anglesey. You will leave with incredible images, cherished memories, new photography skills & friendships which will last a lifetime.

All are welcome to attend this workshop regardless of your photography level & experience.

We hope you can join us on this photography adventure!
